WHAT IS SIEGE TANK?Stanford has developed a networked construction management system to manage routing and allocation of building materials. Siege Tank is an autonomous vehicle prototype that can automatically navigate around an 8' x 8' construction field and deliver COnstruction Widgets (COWs) to the correct location. It communicates with a command generator over serial protocol interface (SPI). Based on the commands it receives, Siege Tank is able to retrieve COWs, transport them to staging areas, and deliver them (in a targeted, extremely ballistic way), to the construction sites. Siege Tank is equipped with a sensor system which enables it to capture alternating magnetic field frequencies, detect IR signals and keep track of its distance to the side wall.
